Getting to Vava'u
VAVA'U airport is located in the northern part of the main island, with regular flights from Tonga's international airport on Tongatapu via Chathams Pacific using 50 seat Convair aircraft. The journey takes about 50 minutes. From Vava'u airport it is only about 15-20 minutes by road into the main town of Neiafu.
There are local taxis in Vava'u offering both local rides as well as guided day tours of the island. If you are staying in or near Neiafu then most things are accessible on foot. However, bicycles and scooters are also available for hire. These are especially useful if you are staying just outside of Neiafu such as Mystic Sands on 'Utungake. It's not that far away and there are few hills.
Don't miss a relaxing cruise to see the smaller islands of Vava'u. And if you are into fishing or diving, there are day trips available.
